Sculptor and Photographer Erwin Wurm's name appears in the Can't Stop video, which was inspired by the artist's One Minute Sculptures. Born in 1954, Wurm lives and works in Vienna.

At this highschool in Los Angeles, history was made in 1978 when a young Anthony Kiedis saved Michael Balzary from a schoolyard fight. All four original band members went to Fairfax, which is situated at the corner of Melrose & Fairfax in Hollywood. Other celebrities who were once students there include actress Demi Moore, actor David Arquette, producer Phil Spector and "Slash" ex-guitarist of Guns N' Roses. It also gets a mention in Deep Kick:"...We went to Fairfax High School
Jumped off buildings into their pools..."

A punk band in LA in the early 80s. Flea joined this Fear, right after he quit Anthym.
Fishbone
One of America's early punk bands. Fishbone toured with RHCP during 2000, and John, Flea and Chad contributed in their album released that same year, The Psychotic Friends Nuttwerx.

Michael "Flea" Balzary was born in Melbourne, before moving to Los Angeles at an early age. Founding member and bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Former bassist of Anthym and Fear. Flea also plays the trumpet and has a daughter, Clara, and a son, Sunny. Read Flea's complete biography here!

1940-92. American artist and songwriter, guitarist etc. Frontman of The Blackouts and the Mothers. Worked together with Captain Beefheart. A fantastic artist that has influenced the Chili Peppers a lot, especially John Frusciante. John covered a few of his songs live during the BSSM tours.

Styley
RHCP's second album (released 1985) produced by George Clinton, the godfather of funk. This record saw the return of Hillel Slovak on guitar.

Funkadelic, an American funk band who pioneered the genre. George Clinton was the frontman of Funkadelic.

Monks
The fourth track on the Blood Sugar Sex Magik album. Also the title of the bands' home video, released by Warner in 1991, and later released on DVD. Shot during the recording sessions for the legendary Blood Sugar Sex Magik album in a Beverly Hills mansion, the video provides a behind the scenes look into the everyday story of RHCP and their family. Directed by Gavin Bowden, Flea's brother-in-law.

John Frusciante's lovely mother. Gail and her church choir did the backing vocals on Under the Bridge.
Gang Of Four
Andy Gill's '70s band, Gang Of Four, took punk to a whole new level adding a funk element to their hard-driving sound. "Gang Of Four is the first rock band I could truly relate to... These limies rocked my world." - Flea
George Clinton
Frontman of funk outfit Parliament-Funkadelic. Clinton produced the RHCP's second album, Freaky Styley.
Gloria Scott
The woman who inspired the lyrics to Venice Queen. A great friend of the band. Having been a drug addict herself, she was able to help the guys with their addiction problems as well as helping others. She fell ill to cancer and died.

The premiere awards for the United States Music Industry. In 1993 the RHCP received the award for Best Hard Rock Act, and was awarded again in 2000 for Best Rock Song with Scar Tissue.

Located in Michigan, USA. The hometown of Anthoy Kiedis, until he moved to Los Angeles to live with his father.
Greenie
Greenie or Greenman, was the nickname bestowed on a freshfaced John Frusciante by Chad Smith, back in the early years when he joined the band. He looked so 'green' compared to the other members. "He's a good kid. He's really talented and he's very knowledgeable musically. He knows all the shit I donīt know. I basically know nothing about music theory and he's studied it to death inside out. He's a very disciplined musician, all he cares about is his guitar and his cigarettes. We call him Greenie 'cause he's so young... but don't let that put you off" - Anthony Kiedis

Book of World Records
Chad Smith entered the Guinness Book of Worlds Record by playing the world's largest durm kit - 308 pieces - in a club called Sanctum, nowadays Clutch Cargo, in Michigan.

John Frusciante attended the institute in his youth. "...I went there because I wanted my father to think that I was doing something serious and so he would sent me more money. But I skipped a lot of classes. Anyway I learnt technical and theorical knowledges that still being useful to me" - John Frusciante

The director of the Under The Bridge video, and photographer for the BSSM artwork. You can see hime taking some shots on the Funky Monks video. Van Sant also directed the movie 'My Private Idaho', in which Flea had a small role.

Dutch Tattoo parlour owned by Henk Schiffmacher who designed some of Anthony's tattoos, and John's Octopus tattoo. Also a co-designer for BSSM cover, with the infamous 'tongue' design.

Frontman of the Rollins Band. Played with Flea on the Small Soldiers soundtrack.
Heroin
An opioid, a narcotic analgesic that is from the same family as morphine, codine and methodone. Used as a an illegal drug that has taken the life of many great people. In 1988 Hillel Slovak died of an overdose after four years of serious abuse. River Phoenix, also a close friend of the band, died in 1993 of the drug. Both Anthony and John are former addicts but have managed to overcome the addiction after a tough struggle.

Anthony, Flea, and Jack Irons' best friend. The original guitarist and founding member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Hillel died of an overdose in 1988. Read his Bio here.

The name of Anthony's dog, who died in 2004.
Hyde Park
One of the most famous parks in Europe, but more importantly the setting of a trio of RHCP concerts that took place in June 2004. The songs performed here were recorded and released as the Red Hot Chili Pepper's first live album. The double disc album Live At Hyde Park was released outside the USA in July 2004.
